Notoriety
Robert William "Willie" Pickton gained his nortoriety by starting out as a successful, multi-millionaire pig farmer. He made his fortune by selling off his paren'ts lands to developers. He started to abuse and use drugs and alcohol, acting like a big money player to everyone he encountered. He was then on the verge of bankruptcy and began to surf Downtown Vancouver for prostitutes to take back to his farm only to be raped and savagely killed and fed to his multiple pigs and friends on the farm. He went years without going convicted or caught. His methods ranged from stabbing, gunshots, dismemberment, etc. He was most known after conviction because of what he did with the bodies of his victims: Cutting them up, gutting them with knives, grinding them in a meat grinder, feeding them to his pigs OR incorporating the grind into food and feeding it to his friends at the farm.
Timeline
In my personal opinion on the case of Robert William "Willie" Pickton, the RCMP and Vancouver Police failed the public. The cases of the many missing women on the East Side of Vancouver went un-investigated for years. There were many times Pickton could have been indicted... This would change the way the police conducted their attitidues towards missing women in the future.

What I really find interesting about this case in particular is the many times that Pickton could've been convincted or arrested but wasn't! For example: After his first attack, the girl he handcuffed made her way to the hopsital, (as did Pickton at the same hospital), a nurse found a handcuff key that fit the handcuff on the girl that he attempted to murder. No further investigation was conducted..
